BUDDING Jamie Olivers got their chef hats during a trip on a cooking bus.
Pupils from Norland Junior and Infant School were given lessons in preparing good food while aboard the Focus on Food Cooking Bus which made a stop at Dean Clough Mills in Halifax.

The bus, funded by Yorkshire Forward and run by the Focus on Food campaign, also offers training for teachers so they can continue helping pupils cook and gives advice to children on careers in the catering industry.

Its aims include supporting schools’ health eating projects, teaching food safety, hygiene and preparation techniques, and highlighting the importance of fruit and vegetables in a balanced diet.

John Sorsby, Yorkshire Forward’s food and drink team manager, said: “The Focus on Food Cooking Bus not only teaches young people about healthy eating and food hygiene, it also demonstrates the possibilities of food and drink as a career option.”
